How do you shape your hair without keeping it that way?

More specifically, I want to style my hair widly, I don't like plain hair. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of products I should use if I want to keep my wild hair sticking out but not look like gel hair, know what I mean? You see, each time I use gel, my hair just looks like a lot of spikes on my head, I can't seem to shape any individual part of my hair. I want my hair to look like hair, not gel hair, kinda get what I'm saying? Where I'm in control what the shape is for each hair string...Heh, I'm so fussy about my hair...But yeah.

bed head has a lot of products for styles like that. try a wax or styling putty.... something that will move, but also keep hair in place (unlike gel that dries hard)

There is a product in Salons called Bed Head, works pretty well without giving you the "gell" look you don't like.

Don't worry you aren't the only one get some aussie dual personality mousse "mega hold" and just carefully apply after blowdrying your hair, it will be nice and soft yet just the way you like it.

Use a pomade or wax you can define peices of hair separately. Works well. Most hair lines have one. Here is a link to one that works well:

I Hear PooP makes a good Gell but it turns white after exposed to air and the oder might be a little harsh at the begining.
