Is there a way to keep my curly hair from puffing up without any gel or spray or whatever?

I have curly hair, obviously, and I sadly use hairspray everday for my hair. To keep it from looking like a puffed up poodle. Is there ANY shampoo and conditioner, that's excellent for my hair that will keep it down. I use dove products the shampoo w/ conditioner and hairspray. I know it's a good name in all but, I'm just sick of damaging my hair with all the spray. My friends they refuse to use any spray or w/e in their straight hair and their hair is perfectly soft and whatnot. The thing is their hair is straight and mine is well you know, so it kind of makes a difference I guess. Any help at all I appreciate it so much.

For somedays use just shampoo, not conditioner, Sunsilk do some goood products (shampoos and conditioner mainly) for curly or wavy hair.

I have had curly hair foreverrr. And the one thing that I've learned about frizz, is that heat causes it.

You didn't mention if you blowdry your hair, but that can make curly hair turn into a ridiculous mess!!!

Try not blowdrying at all, or using a very low setting with the "cool" button pressed down. Also, you can use a diffuser, which is specifically designed to stick on the end of the hairdryer and prevent frizz in curles!!!

Many companies also make smoothing creams to be applied to wet and dry hair to tame curls

dont use a volumizer. sunsilk is really good too. If you want to keep your hair curly then use the shampoo and conditioner but if you want your hair straight, straighten your hair. And i learned that if u straighten it and put straight extentions in it ways it down so it dosent get all frizzy. (dont use the hairspray anymore and if u use a alot of make up. it adds 4.4 pounds everytime)

Pantene Ice Shine shampoo and conditioner are really good for reducing frizz and my hair feels healthier when I use them. I'd give them a try.
