How can i make my hair up without gel?

Gel is very seldom a good styling product--especially on short hair. It dries, flakes, and ends up looking like dandruff.

I'd suggest using a pomade--which is a waxy type of styling product than is much more forgiving that gel is.

Other than that, it's pretty much impossible to style short hair without some sort of product.

If your hair is wet, use mouse and blow dry it into position. Or use hairspray. Or use pomade, though that's super messy. I recommend Big Sexy Hair Hairsray- you can brush it and manipulate it till you get it right. Then reapply.

I don't know what "look" your going for. If you mean stick straight up, or a wind blown, messy look, try Got2BeU hair glue. You can find it at any Wal-Mart or Target store. I use it all the time.

HI, I'm not sure what your concerns are with hair gel (I can think of many...) but here are a couple of alternatives for styling your hair without using animal products, scents, preservitives, marketing cost markups, these recipies are inexpensive and work great! good luck :-)

To make a natural hairspray, combine 2 cups water with the juice of one lemon, one orange, or two limes in a saucepan. Simmer until it comes to a boil. Cool and strain the mixture. Pour into a spray bottle. It can be used on wet hair to add body or applied to dry hair. The lemon will not significantly lighten hair.

Here is a recipe for home made hair gel, you can get non-animal gelatin at health food stores if that is a concern for you.

1/2 to 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin

1 cup warm water

Dissolve gelatin in 1 cup warm water. Keep refrigerated and use as you would a purchased gel.

This requires refrigeration since it don't contain preservatives. Shelf Life is approximately 1 week.
