I want to buy a Original Chi striaghtener. If I do, do I have to use the special chi spray so it won't damage my hair?

you need to use a thermal protector, they are oils the protect your hair. i got mine from sallys beauty supply. they are glossing drops by procclaim. you only need a small amout. and besides protecting your hair from the most damaging element there is(heat) you also manage to get your hair straighter and shinier

With the chi i would use some sort of heat protect spray but any brand will do- you do not have to buy the expensive chi line of product.

yes.yes.yes!!! Especially since the original chi doesn not have temperature control. You don't have to use a chi spray. But you can use any kind or heat/thermal spray or serum. You can get them in the supermarket or drugstore. If you prefer going with the chi brand, let me just tell you that the silk infusion does not protect against heat. The thermal protector does. I use the sedu heat protector and it works ok.

nope i have a chi i have had mine for a couple of years now and it works great, but i think they do sell some kind of gel that you can put in your hair after wards to stop the frizzinies

OMG!! i just bought one and you dont even have to put netin in your hair. my hair is super hard to straighten and i usually have to put TONS of stuff in it.. but with the Chi straightener i dont! =] lol.. i sound like a commercial but you dont need to put neting in it! =] also you might want to get a Royale straightener instead. they both have the ceramic plates and i think it works just a little bit better. theres a pink one fer $200 and a black one fer $150. with the black one you can adjust the temp from 100-400 degrees celcius but the pink one is always 500 degrees celcius.

*I would be using the CHI products if you're going to use the straightner...speaking of which I need to go buy mine!

.It's not like you "have" to use their products with the straightner :) However I think there is something in their products that works with the straightner specifically that can help increase your desired results.

*You can buy the CHI products at some department stores, like Kmart, Target..or whatever. BUT if you want good product...I recommend that you purchase them from a Salon to ensure you get the best product quality. My stylist told me not to buy Salon products from the department stores because they usually sell the expired product, which causes the product to not work correctly on your hair...therefore you see no results with it.

.Anyways......you can just purchase the CHI products online if you do a search, or you can go to your salon and buy them.

It is best if you do use the Chi products, they help keep your hair from getting too damaged. But you dont HAVE to use anything, its just recommended.
