What should i put in my hair to protect it from heat of straightener?also would gel work as a heat p

KMS has a line specifically for flat iron users. It's called Flat Out.

Also, gel isn't formulated for direct contact with intense heat. It'll liquefy and cake onto your flat iron causing all sorts of problems. Sorta like using a non non-stick frying pan to cook eggs. ;p

There is a product I use on my hair called chi 44 iron gril I think and It keeps my hair from frying, and I think gel would actually cause that problem.

Try a good conditioner.Don't buy the the cheap stuff as it does nothing. Also only use shampoo every other time you wash your hair but make sure to use conditioner regularly.

My stylist said not to use plain gel- you need tot use a product that is specifically for this purpose. My stylist said to use something like Helene Curtis: Straight and Smooth- Leave-in cream. It is heat-activated so it helps straighten it better and protects at the same time. You can get it at a drug store of Target/ Wal-Mart, etc.

DO NOT put regular hair gel in ur hair as a heat protector that can severly damage and burn your hair since gel is flammable until completely dried and would fry it quite a bit combined with heat even if your hair was dried. You can find a variety of heat protection products available at walmart and your local sally beauty for under 5 to 10 dollars. For starters try something by Bed Head, an affordable line or maybe Red Ken if you can spend a little more. Super Skinny by Paul Mitchell is a wonder, but is moderatly priced.
